Background
Availigent is a US company which provides transparent high availability software for Linux OS. Availigent is the global cooperative partner of HP, IBM, Intel and its customers spread all over areas such as North America, Europe, the Asian-Pacific area, etc.
Duration is the flagship product of Availigent. Duration's near-instant end-to-end recovery time, virtualization and checkpoint/restore capabilities and user-friendliness make it the ideal way for complete protection of multi-tier applications. With an international user base and platform support including HP Proliant, Egenera BladeFrame, and IBM BladeServers, Duration has proven to be the recovery and reliability system of choice for now and the future.
Litsoft is Availigent's cooperative partner in China and helps Availigent to do the localization and testing for its products.
Project introduction
The project team from Litsoft was responsible for the API testing for the Duration 3.0, the latest version of Duration. The testing engineers learned the system architecture and functions of the product and classified the APIs according to the software requirements. They designed testing cases to cover all the interfaces and all the combinations. Both automatic testing and manual testing were adopted and software testing tools were utilized to improve the efficiency and accuracy. Moreover, the testing codes were written with compliance to the under the guidance of standards and criterion provided by Availigent. Detailed documents were also written to eliminate possible misunderstanding or confusion. The team communicates directly with the engineers from the headquarters of Availigent via telephone, email, or even face to face to report testing results and work together to solve problems. After the completion of the software testing work, Litsoft provided detailed documents of software testing report, testing case, bug information to Availigent.
Litsoft's work ensured the successful release of Duration 3.0 and helped Availigent to win the contract with PetroChina Company Limited's Bureau of Geophysics (BGP).
